Cadillac Mountain- Early to rise for a breathtaking moment

Sunrise majesty at its finest. To witness the first light of day from the easternmost point on the North Atlantic seaboard is nothing short of breathtaking. We rose at 2:30 a.m., fueled by coffee and anticipation, camera gear and took a brisk walk into town to meet our pre-booked 4:30 am shuttle. Alongside eight other early risers, we slowly ascended Cadillac Mountains- Cadillac Summit Road a 3.5 mile winding ride to the top. We were grateful for the clear skies, and not driving ourselves gave us an advantage to take in all the stunning views to the top—our driver shared that the previous morning had been covered in fog and had high winds. This day, it seemed, was meant for us.

At the summit, visitors, some with their dogs and photo seekers gathered quietly, each one poised for that sacred moment when the horizon begins to glow.

The silence was refreshing, reverent, and deeply respectful—a shared stillness that allowed everyone to absorb the miracle unfolding before us. As the sun breached the edge of the horizon, casting hues of yellow gold, orange, red light across land and water, it was impossible not to feel a surge of gratitude.
It made you want to shout from the mountaintop: Life is good!
